Back to Work

So you would like to get back to work and be part of the South African Society again.

When a brain-injured person returns to work there are a few things to remember.
You may not be able to do the same type of work as before.  You may not be able to handle stressful situations and things will take longer to get done.

BIG strongly advises  any brain-injured person who wants to return to work to liaise closely with your support system.  You need to consult with:

Your neuro-psychologist; (look on the South African Clinical Neuropsychological Association's website http://www.sacna.co.za for references);

Your  therapists, occupational, physiotherapist and speech therapists;

your doctor; and

Your family and care-giver (s).

Your medical team will determine what type of work and under what circumstances you will be able to work.

Never give up!  It took BIG's former CEO, Gert van Rensburg, 11 years to get back to work, and he did - so can you!
