The Brain Injury Group aims to improve the level of awareness
for the approximately 140 000 people who sustain brain-injuries each
year. Increased awareness for the brain-injured community breaks down
barriers and helps the brain-injured person re-integrate into society. |

BIG focuses on the following campaigns: |
- BIG
concentrates on safety promotion.
The old saying "prevention is better than cure" is very true in this
case. Although brain-injury cannot be prevented, the risk can
be minimised. People need to be made aware of the
realities of living of a brain-injury. So what is this

- The
brain-injured community, as part of the broader disability sector in
South Africa, needs to be treated in a humane manner and with
respect. BIG aims to educate
the public on how to communicate and react to a brain-injured person.

Past Campaigns:
- The 2007 campaign focused on safety promotion and
was done through publicity in newspapers.
